Post 11 - Logical Fallacies in Politics

This is how I felt last night!
I'm absolutely disgusted with the results of the elections held yesterday.  I stayed up all evening and proceeded to get more discouraged with every race that was called.  The Republicans won over the electorate with their uncanny ability to use repetitive rhetoric to convince the general population that they are representing them.  This is the furthest thing from the truth.  If you're not an old, rich, white man, then the Republican party is not representing your interests.

I'm also completely disgusted with the Democrat's lack of ability to express their views in a limited scope so that the average American that doesn't follow politics and keep up on current events can understand that Democrats are looking out for the regular people.  When Obama's campaign messaged "Hope" and "It's Time for a Change," the people came out in overwhelming numbers to support a candidate that they felt represented them personally.  Why did this tactic for bringing out the masses not stick within the Democratic party?  I don't know.....

  1. Personally I think the results demonstrate the will of the people. When Obama and the democratic party was elected people wanted what he promised, change. The people wanted change so they voted for it. He had four years to give it to us but apparently it wasn't the change we wanted. When that four years concluded people weren't ready to admit they were wrong so they made excuses for him and the party then elected him again. Now the people, at least slightly more than half, believe his change isn't good for us. So they are making another change. Just because democracy doesn't work in our favor doesn't mean it doesn't work.

  2. I think the election showed us what the people want. Obama and his democratic party keep on pushing things onto people that the people do not want. Obamacare for example is not even constitutional, why does the government tell that I need to get something? Why are my tax dollars are going towards helping someone pay insurance? It is unfair. The democrats keep on trying to go against the constitution as well, they are trying to limit our freedom to speech under the idea of hate speech, they are trying to take away the right for me not to let police into my house as they did in Boston after the marathon explosion, they are trying to ban high capacity magazines and semiautomatic guns too. It is our constitution, our god given rights and yet they try and take that away from us. It is not their business what I keep in my house or what I use as my right. Also I am glad the republicans got elected because if Obama tries to do amnesty to all the illegals and break our tax system, which is bad under him already, then the republican house and senate can veto his idea. He had his chance and the people spoke.

  3. I do not think any parties now and day represent the people in general. It seems as though the candidates say what the public wants to here until they get into office. Once they reach that point they become like the rest. It would be nice to see a person from the middle class to become elected. At least they can bring to office ideas from the people (with experience).

  4. I am with you %100 Christie, politicians are out for themselves. I voted for the first time of my life for Obama and I did it twice because I do believe in change and I thought coming from where he came from, he would understand what needs to be done. This man did absolutely nothing for the poor people/regular people...unemployment rate may be low, that's because people are not qualify for it anymore, everything is going up in price, young kids out of college still cant find a job, people are still being sent to jail for no reason, the cops are still harassing the population instead of solving real crimes and do their jobs..I don't see what has changed during this man's term beside allowing same sex marriage.
