Post 14 - Internet Dangers

My daughter came to me this evening and told me that an Internet predator contacted her on her social media accounts.  She's completely upset and frightened.  Unfortunately, in her fear she deleted all of her accounts and with the accounts all of the messages that he sent.  I understand why she did this, but I really wish she had kept them so that I could have taken her phone to the police.  This sicko sent her an explicit picture of another little girl and threatened to send it to her dad and uncle telling them that he would say that it was a picture of her unless she agreed to saying that he owned her.  I'm literally sick to my stomach thinking about it.  Does anybody know if this information can be phished back out of her phone so he can be tracked down?  This is why I feel the need to protect her so much...it's a scary world and technology has added more danger.  You don't only have to worry about abuse by a friend or neighbor, but now you have to try to keep up with the danger of the Internet.

  1. OMG!!!! This is absolutely horrible. There's got to be a way you can track him. You must go to the police anyway. Maybe they have a way to track him and get that bastard.

  2. So scary!! It crazy to think of the weirdos out there. I believe there is a way you can get those messages back. Maybe call someone to come and look at the computer and see if they can retrieve the lost data?

  3. That is really scary !!! But there has to be a way to get all that information back. Because once something is out there through text or a picture, it's out there forever. I'm not quite sure how to get all the information back, but I do know you can retrieve everything. So I wish you the best of luck and hope you get everything out.

  5. The internet is a very dangerous place. It's hard for kids these days to even try to live a normal outdoor life because of sick people like that. There has to be some way to retrieve that information.

  6. That is very scary. I do not even know how I would react if that happened to my son. That is just terrifying. Try to talk to the police maybe they can do something with the phone. I heard that sometimes phones keep info even if it is deleted. I hope that guy gets found out.

  8. Ms. Bruno, no data is ever lost from the Internet. You should definitely pursue this issue with the appropriate authorities who can recover the data from the deleted accounts.
